Vacation!

* 8 years from 9/11, I think my post from last year still applies very much. We'll always remember this day, this morning, 8 years ago, and what it did to so many people and our country as a whole. While we'll remember the details of the events of that morning, and the days and weeks that followed, the images we saw, the feeling of mourning and fear and anger, we should also remember that unity our nation felt. We came together, with all of our differences and felt all of those feelings together, united. Let us never forget that, although we are all very different individuals, we can put those differences aside and be proud of the country in which we live.

I realized I never told you about our first vacation since our honeymoon! So I'll leave you with a short tale of what we did and some pictures. Have a fantastic weekend:)

After an incredibly stressful first year of law school and summer job experience (although very rewarding!), we finally took a vacation together. We went away for about 9 days to a place called Lake Gaston, NC. My matron-of-honor and her hubby own a house right on the lake. With us having limited funds, we decided to use their house for our vacation.

The house is in the middle of nowhere. I'm talking, gravel road leading to the house, the town has 1 restaurant and coffee shop, and a grocery store. We thought we'd be bored to tears for that long - but the time there was much needed for each of us individually, as well as giving us time to focus on eachother. We talked a ton and snuggled even more.

We cooked out on the grill almost every night, we drank wine on the dock, fished, relaxed on rafts in the lake, watched movies after dinner, and soaked in the sun. And we slept. A lot. And all of this happened in the most beautiful lakehouse I could've imagined. The house overlooked the lake but was in a quiet cove off the lake. It is beautifully decorated and has a full stocked kitchen. The entire rear of the house has floor to ceiling windows to overlook the lake, with a wrap around deck off the top floor and a patio on the ground floor. Off the kitchen is a screened in porch. The master bedroom has a bathroom suite with a beautiful jacuzzi tub. On the ground floor, after we had explored the entire house, we found another huge garage with all kinds of water gadgets: rafts, life vests, fishing equipment, water skis. We were incredibly spoiled that week!

Here are some pictures from the week!
