32 Weeks

I am officially 8 months pregnant (if going by the whole 40 weeks is really 10 months thing) :)

Baby girl weighs about 3.75 lbs.  At this point, she's really preparing for life outside the belly - practicing breathing, sucking, drinking, swallowing.  I've noticed that her periods of movements and sleep cycles are much longer - she'll be active for a couple hours now, and then sleep for a couple hours, and so on.  And my belly looks like it has a life of its own when she starts moving.  It really is quite unbelievable that a little person is growing in there.  Over the remaining weeks, I should be gaining at least one pound per week, and half of that will go to baby.

We found out at the hospital that baby girl is head down, and her head is already dipping very low (the midwife pushed her head when she was checking to make sure I wasn't dilated).  I know that she could still turn to be facing the wrong direction, but I'm hopeful that she'll stay head down.  I don't know why, but I really have a feeling that she is coming early.  Maybe this is a first time mom worry?  For all I know she'll be 2 weeks late ha.

I am feeling a little more uncomfortable but still can maneuver to find a comfortable position.  I am sleeping in until about 9 am (and even until 10 yesterday and today).  All those pee breaks chop up my sleep so I feel super tired all the time.  I'm taking the advice of many and getting sleep while I still can!

The hospital visit also has sent me into making sure we're ready. I have a lot to do but am hoping to get it all done over the next couple weeks.  Here's my list of to-dos:
  • get a book case for nursery
  • get shelving for nursery
  • get hanging device for nursery
  • look into mobiles
  • get picture frames and order other stuff from etsy that I've had my eye on
  • book our doula
  • find pediatrician
  • get car seat installed
  • get cars cleaned
  • finish reading various pregnancy/birthing/breastfeeding books
  • get hospital bag together
  • buy hamper
  • wash baby clothes/blankets
  • organize nursery
  • put car seat adapter on stroller
  • get ipod docking station for baby's room
  • go on hospital tour
  • take baby care class
  • take breastfeeding class

Lots to get done (and I'm sure I'm missing tons on this list)

  1. Wow... I can't believe how fast time flies. She really will be here before you know it! You're one lucky lady, I'm so jealous! (in a good way, don't worry :) )
