A Valentine's Day Weekend

We kicked off the weekend with chinese food takeout and watched My Sister's Keeper.  Wow, what a sobfest for this pregnant lady.  Even Ian got a little choked up in some parts - the part that really got to me was the beach scene.  During the scene, the music playing was our first dance song at our wedding.  Whoa, I really lost it at that point.  But we really loved the movie.

Saturday we went to the grocery store to get lime sherbet - I had been craving it since I ate my fortune cookie on Friday night and realized that they always used to serve the fortune cookie with lime sherbet when I ate at the chinese restaurant growing up.

Saturday night, we went out to dinner at Mezze in Fell's Point.  We hadn't been there in over a year but were quickly reminded why we loved it so much.  The atmosphere was romantic (we were on the top floor) and the food was delicious.

We got home and took Tessa for an hour walk.  I wish I could say that we did this because it would be a nice romantic walk for us - but in reality Tessa has been refusing to go #2 at night.  TMI - I know, but just imagine walking her in the freezing cold, on ice/snow, for an hour, and her choosing to just not go.  We weren't happy campers.  Normally Ian walks her, but after a couple days of frustration from walking her (he walked her for 1.5 hours a few nights ago), he wanted a break from her.

Sunday, I woke up and got ready.  I took Tessa for a walk (she was good for me!), went to church, exchanged cards, and then I got homework done.  Boring day right?  We're just not really big v-day people.  I much prefer Ian to surprise me some other time with flowers or sweets or something.  We normally just exchange cards - because he knows I LOVE a good card (normally, humorous cards) and we sometimes surprise each other with something more than that.  But this year, neither of us did, and you know what - we were just as happy.

I spent a few hours at Panera getting some work done, came home, walked into the basement to a surprise.  Ian had been busy while I was getting work done - he had reorganized the furniture and other stuff in the basement to make room for our 2nd bedroom furniture.  I've been saying that we really have a lot to do to get ready for baby - and this was one of the big projects that needed to be done.  So now, the basement (which is also my office), has room to make it into the guest bedroom.  The current guest bedroom will soon become the nursery.  Getting projects like these done makes me oh-so-happy (and even happier that the hubs surprised me with it!), but also makes me realize just how soon we'll have a little baby in our home.  And that, makes me swell up with so much happiness I could just about burst.

  3. I love getting projects around the house done too. It feels so good, but I bet it's especially exciting when it's for your baby!
