Devil's Food Cake with Buttercream Frosting

I mentioned yesterday that I was craving this for the past week or so.  Actually, I was craving my wedding cake and wish our wedding cake lady lived closer because I totally would've paid her to make me a small cake. 

But, she lives nowhere close to us so it was up to me to try something to fill the craving.  Over the weekend, I finally had the energy to do something about it. 

I made Devil's Food Cake with a vanilla buttercream.  And holy crap is it good!  The only thing I would do differently is use about 1/2 the amount of vanilla in the buttercream than it calls for - it's too vanilla-y.

I even took a picture - go me!  I didn't make it very pretty which is why I didn't show a picture of the whole cake, or the outside frosting because it is so uneven ha.

  3. Re: wedding cake - We used buttercream too, it kind of looks like fondant because it's so smooth. They did a great job. I do not care for the taste of fondant either.
