After yesterday's rather serious post (I may choose to elaborate what sparked that post at some point), here's a more upbeat one for you.

Luca had to have minor surgery last week to remove a cyst and two lymph nodes.  The awesome news is that everything is BENIGN.  As we waited for that wonderful news (that took 4 days to receive), things were instantly put in the right perspective.  Little things were exactly that...little.  I cherished my time with Luca, even when she was cranky or I was tired.  I also occupied my time with a ton of walking.  I would put her in the stroller with snacks and a drink, put Tessa on a leash, and go walk for a couple hours.  Luca was not always the most thrilled with two hours in the stroller so I would sing The Wheels on the Bus about 43 times to keep her content.

And since we received the news, I have kept up the walking because it has felt good to get exercise back into my daily routine.  It gets us out of the house, into the quiet, and gives me time to think of all the things in our life.  The sad things, and the many many awesome things.  During these walks, I try to list in my head all of the things we have to be grateful for.  The people.  The prayers.  Our family.  Our friends.

Tessa gets a lot of kisses and hugs from Luca all day long.

  1. I love those pictures of Luca!

And I am impressed that you can get Luca to sit still for 2 hours. You'll have to teach me your tricks.
