Some things don't change

Some things haven't changed since Luca's transplant.  We still talk a lot about her poop, toots, pee, spit up, throw up, boogers. You know, typical mom and dad talk.

Her first night back home in 2.5 weeks, she slept beautifully.  She was asleep by 9pm, and woke up at 8:15 this morning.  Not one peep from her.  We fed her through her g-tube at 4am and Ian thought she might need a diaper change.  But she normally wakes us up when she has a bad diaper so he figured he'd wait until she let us know.

Well, at 8:15 he snuck into her room to feed her via her g-tube, and found a smiling baby.  He looked down to see that her woombie was wet.  As were the sheets underneath her.  First thought - her g-tube medicine port opened up and the extension wasn't clamped, which must've leaked all her stomach contents out.  But upon opening up her woombie, the extension was clamped just fine.  Then, one glance at her white pajamas clued him into what the problem was.  The BIGGEST poop explosion ever known to parents.  He called for my help.

I walked in and bursted out laughing.  One positive of having medical supplies around - we have gloves in multiple rooms.  On went our gloves to handle this mess.  It was down both legs, up her back, up her front.  POOP EVERYWHERE.

She laughed her way through the cleanup, seemingly quite pleased with herself.  She came home from the hospital with a PICC line so she can only have sponge baths.  Do you know how horrible sponge baths are at cleaning poop covered babies?  Well, just to give you an idea, it took us about 1/2 hour to get her totally cleaned up.

She was a big pooper before her transplant.  Some things never change.
