L was admitted again yesterday for high ammonia levels. What clue did she give me...taking a 2 hour nap instead of an hour nap. That's it. She was still alert, smiling, cooing.
I hate this disease.
Upon arrival, ammonia (which was drawn on the first try - woohoo!) was 140. Not too bad. Intralipids and fluids were started, and feeds were cut in half.
This morning's blood draw - ammonia was 209. We are waiting for a redraw because we don't really believe the 209 number. Will update once I know more.
Praying that her ammonia comes down quickly. If it turns out that the 209 is correct, IV meds will be started and food will be stopped until the ammonia comes back into the normal range.
Other than the ammonia, she is still acting happy. Just exhausted - it really is impossible to get sleep in the hospital (for baby and mama). Between vital checks, monitors beeping, and various doctors coming in and out to examine her, we barely get more than 1-2 hour sleep sessions in.
9 days is all we went between hospitalizations this time. So happy we're moving forward with her transplant.
Thinking of you all, and so happy soon there will be no more ammonia talk. xo
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine how you are coping. I am thinking of you and your adorable L!!!
ReplyDeleteSending happy thoughts and hugs your way. I hope this all gets much much easier for you guys after the transplant. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from Bethany..i cannot imagine everything you guy are going through...little miss luca is in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteIs Luca going to be able to have the transplant if her ammonia levels are high? Or will doctors have to wait until they come down?
ReplyDeleteHang in there... Thinking of you all and hoping little L gets better!
