Shutterfly Holiday Cards and a Giveaway

Last year, we were so busy preparing for Luca's transplant (and the fact that Ian was going to be her donor), that I never got the chance to send out holiday cards.  In fact, I do not even remember if I thought about it!

We spent her first Thanksgiving and Christmas and NYE in the hospital.  This year, I hope to be home for them (even home for one of these holidays would be amazing).  This year, I am determined to send some holiday cards out.  We have so many people who have been with us through this crazy year, and I want to express our gratitude for having Luca home, finally.

Luca's journey has seriously given us perspective on the holiday season.

Rejoice, joy, gratitude, peace, laughter, blessed.  These are all words that describe how I feel this holiday season.

I was excited to get an email from Shutterfly for this year's cards.  There are so many cards to choose from, that I am having trouble narrowing it down.  I want the card to express those words that I feel for this holiday season.  I love the few that I have found that say "Blessed", and would include a family picture, but am wondering if this is a bit too religious to send to our friends of different faiths?  Then again, I could always do a simple holiday card that does not say Christmas or any other religious holiday, but rather says a generic "Happy Holidays" type saying.

And since I am in this holiday season mode, I am starting to come up with ideas for gifts.  But I do not want to share any of them because family members read this blog.  But to both of our moms, who knows what you might be getting.  Maybe a photo book?  Maybe another gift?  We do have a baby girl who would look quite cute on some of those gifts (and we know I have plenty of photos to fill a book, or 10).

What have you picked for holiday cards this year?  Do you normally send cards out?

GIVEAWAY:  I am trying to get some feedback on the blog.  For anyone who comments on what they love reading or hearing about on my blog, or wants to just leave me a comment, I will randomly select two winners out of those comments who will receive a code for 25 free holiday cards from Shutterfly.

*I wrote this post as I am a part of Shutterfly's 2011 Holiday Card Promotion.  I am receiving 50 holiday cards for free for simply writing this post, but all of my words and opinions are my own.  I have not been compensated to say such things.

  1. KT,
I love reading your blog because you are really honest and candid about your feelings. I also love that you were a superstar at pumping for Luca all the time. THe other reason I like reading is because our lives are so different and we are both blessed in many ways (I liked your idea for "blessed" on the card).
I have no idea what I am doing for Christmas cards this year.

  2. I of course love hearing about Luca and seeing pictures of her beautiful little face! You are such a super mom and I enjoy reading your posts because you are honest and real about your life.

As a rather non-religious person, I still think "blessed" is a great word to put on your cards! You don't have to go to church or pray everyday to recognize blessings, IMO :)

  3. I love hearing about Luca and how you guys are doing. I know sometimes the mundane things don't feel blog-worthy but they're often the most interesting.

Although sometimes I think my comments don't go through, so you probably don't know I read as much as I do. I hope this one works!

  4. I stumbled across your blog last year through another friend's blog. I could relate in some small part because my daughter spent months in the hospital when she was born. Thankfully, most of her issues have been resolved. I can't help but keep coming back to read your updates because you have an honesty that I can relate to and I'm glad with each post that it seems your daughter is making some progress.
